Filler Rhinoplasty
Instantly change the appearance of your nose with a liquid rhinoplasty
Want to adjust the appearance of your nose without the downtime of surgery? Liquid rhinoplasty or filler rhinoplasty with Dr. Jacob Bloom at Bloom Plastic Surgery may be your answer. The goal of a liquid rhinoplasty is to temporarily improve your overall appearance by subtly altering the size and/or shape of your existing nose, bringing it into proportion with the rest of your facial features by:
- Improving the profile of the nose by eliminating a bump or hump on the bridge
- Correcting a nose that is slightly crooked or off-center
- Improving the appearance of the tip of the nose
What can a liquid rhinoplasty not do?
- It cannot create an entirely new nose or alter other aspects of your appearance.
- It cannot narrow the width of the bridge of your nose
- It cannot correct breathing problems due to structural defects of the nose or nasal passages.
Because of these limitations, it is important to have realistic expectations and goals from the outset. Describing what specifically about your nose you want to change is a very important part of your consultation, as it helps Dr. Bloom create a customized treatment plan for you.
At Bloom Plastic Surgery in Chicago and Burr Ridge, IL, Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jacob Bloom understands the tremendous psychological impact that dissatisfaction with your nose can have on your self-esteem, your self-confidence, and even on your social and professional life. His goal is to create a warm, welcoming practice where you will feel 100% comfortable discussing your concerns. Dr. Bloom will work closely with you to develop a customized plan designed to achieve those goals and make the precise, careful changes required to bring your nose into beautiful balance with your facial contours.
What should I expect during the procedure?
Liquid or filler rhinoplasties can be performed on an outpatient basis as an office based procedure. Injectable treatments can be performed in our office and usually require between 30-60 minutes. That includes an in depth consultation with Dr. Bloom to determine the best plan to achieve your desired cosmetic results. No anesthesia is required, although some patients may find the use of Pronox can eliminate anxiety and pain. Pronox provides a 50/50 mixture of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen and is an effective analgesic that provides quick pain relief and recovery. The handheld device puts the patient in control of administering the analgesic when they feel like they need it. Side effects are usually minimal and temporary—slight redness and swelling at the injection sites being most common—and patients can return to all normal activities immediately.
When considering a filler rhinoplasty safety is of the utmost importance. The procedure does carry risks of vascular occlusion which can cause tissue loss and even blindness. Make sure that you seek consultation with an expert injector like Dr. Jacob Bloom when choosing to undergo a filler rhinoplasty or any other injectable procedure.
What should I expect after the procedure?
One of the most attractive aspects of a filler rhinoplasty are the near immediate results and limited downtime. That being said, some patients experience some minor discomfort during the procedure, as well as swelling and bruising at the injection sites along the nose. We recommend frequent icing to help reduce the swelling, and suggest patients keep the head elevated as much as possible, in the day after the injection.
At the end of the first week, any bruising should have faded and the new shape of your nose should be visible. However, it is important to be patient: small amounts of swelling may persist for three to four weeks and the fillers can soften over the first month after injection. Most patients can return to work and light activities the day of injection. Liquid Rhinoplasty results typically last for nine months to a year.
